About The Event
Learn the basic ethical and clinical considerations for writing an emotional support letter for your clients needing ESA accommodations for housing. The training will provide attendees with 3 CEUs (approved for MFT, LPC, SW). We will cover basics to "cover your tail" such as:
- How to properly assess need for ESA
- Welfare considerations
- Therapeutic benefits of ESAs
- ADA, FHA, FACA legal considerations
Sarah Newcomer, MS, IMFT of Newcomer Therapy and Michele Sprout Frank, CEO of Pawsible Angels will be facilitating the training.
Sarah Newcomer, MS IMFT has over two decades of animal trainer and behaviorist work prior to her work as a therapist. She has worked at the Columbus Zoo in Animals on Safari animal show, Miami Seaquarium, US Navy Marine Mammal Program, and Tanganyika Wildlife Park as lead animal keeper where she trained a kangaroo to paint. She was an assistant trainer at Family Dog Training and Behavioral in Wichita, KS. There she has worked with assessments of therapy, PTSD, and ESA animals along with helping match clients with appropriate animal companions as well as assisting training classes.
